Because the Council aren’t a court and don’t have the powers. There’s a legal process which takes ages to put a case together which,if it’s a criminal matter, is up to the Procurator Fiscal to pursue.
- Is Scottish Government taking out Campbeltown to give Prestwick a clear run for Spaceport?
I really hope that MACC achieve success at Machrihanish but I think a dose of realism is needed when talking about this project. Like anything else, the main driver is cost. Machrihanish might have a long runway but only half of it is usable. The rest is in poor condition and needs refurbished no doubt at significant cost. Whilst terminal facilities aren’t exactly top notch at Prestwick they are virtually nonexistent at Machrihanish. Sad to say the upfront development costs to get the project going would be much greater. Whilst it is stated that Campbeltown is a 30 minute flight from Glasgow as Murdoch indicates Prestwick is a 30 minute drive from the motorway network. As for the cult Area 51 status, just who are we trying to attract that would believe or be remotely interested in that hokum? Good grief.

Fascinating to read about the Whitby of old and the fishing in particular. I’ve visited over the years and still find it a place with plenty of interest and still with character. Although like Campbeltown it’s a shadow of its former self it’s still a working port and all the better for it.

Warmer air is less dense, doesn’t create as much lift so greater speed and longer takeoff run required. Airfields at significant altitude are affected in the same way. Hot and high = worst case.

Malcolm – I would agree that the police would not be interested in the matter. If your complaint has been mishandled by the Council then it would be dealt with by the Ombudsman but yet you decided that would be “yet another waste of your time”. Why? Surely you would be more likely to achieve something than spending time preparing videos that few people will watch. Was there a reason that you didn’t pursue your complaint via the Ombudsman?
