Kilmodan School’s Play Scotland design success

Kimodan success

In 1991 the UK Government signed up to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  There are 42 articles set out entitled rights for children.

In order to celebrate 20 years of children’s rights in Scotland, Play Scotland asked children to design a birthday card and  were overwhelmed – with over 900 entries received.

The entries then had to be split into age categories to make it possible to respond adequately t the wealth of talent and interest.

Anna Nicolson (pictured) of Kilmodan Pre 5 Group at Kilmodan Primary School in Glendaruel won 1st prize in her age group.

She received gift vouchers for WH Smith and a Play Scotland Goodie Bag for her prize winning design.

Play Scotland are hoping that all entries will be displayed at the Scottish Parliament after Easter so expect a well worn track from Glendaruel to Holyrood. Perhaps when they’re there they can give evidence to the Commission on the Delivery of Rural Education in Scotland?
