An interesting discovery emerged by chance  during the Luss Estates media introduction to the restituted and renamed Loch Lomond Arms Hotel on 31st May 2012.

Graham Murray from the Helensburgh Advertiser and Beverley Smith, Duty Manager for the new hotel found that, had their two families made different choices, they might both have been to Shawbost school on the Isle of Lewis and would have grown up as the distant cousins they are.

Did you say your family was from Lewis?

I am that Smith.

So you’re those Murrays?.

We were that close to meeting at Shawbost.
