Graeme McNaught piano recital, Ardrishaig

On Saturday 5th November at 7.30pm Graeme McNaught will give a piano recital at Ardrishaig Public Hall, promoted by Mid Argyll Arts Association. He will play a programme of Mozart, Ronald Stevenson, Beethoven and Schumann.

Graeme McNaught was born in Motherwell and trained first at RSAMD in Glasgow. He went on to train with lfons Kontarsky in Munich, Hans Leygraf in Salzburg and Maria Curcio in London. In 1986 he was the unanimous winner of the first Scottish Piano Competition. In the same year he took third prize in the Casgrande International Piano Competition in Italy. In 1990 he returned from Germany to join the piano department at RSAMD and has since combined teaching with his own recitals.

Rare Messiaen piece for Ardrishaig concert

A piece of unpublished music, Fantasie, written in 1933 by composer Oliver Messiaen was discovered by Alastair Mitchell when he was teaching in Palestine. There were previously thought to be only two pieces written by Messiaen for violin and piano. Alastair Mitchell and David Finlay will play the piece in their chamber music programme performed on Saturday 19th October in Ardrishaig Hall at 7.30pm. The performance is arranged by Mid Argyll Arts Association.

Tabula Rasa Dance and Trio Ecossaise at Ardrishaig

Both of these performances will be on Saturday 25th October in Ardrishaig Public Hall. Tabula Rasa Dance Company will perform ‘Dilly, Dilly’ – a dance theatre piece, with music, for children at 3.00pm.

Trio Ecossaise – clarinet, ‘cello, piano,  will play a programme of Brahms, Beethoven, Muczynski and duo pieces at 7.30pm.
