Keen walkers needed for Kilbride Farm walkover survey
Kilmartin House Museum is running a Walkover Survey at Kilbride Farm from Monday 26th January to Thursday 29th January and from Sunday 1st February to Thursday 5th February.
If you are interested in getting involved in this, meet at 9.00am at Kilmartin House Museum.
You will obviously be outside for the duration and walking over rough ground for over 5 hours a day – so please come with appropriate clothing and provisions.

An afternoon of poetry and harp music at Kilmartin Museum
On Sunday 30th November from 3pm-4.30pm, there will be an afternoon of poetry and harp music with Charles Anthony and Magdalena Rising at Kilmartin Museum. They will be dropping in to Kilmartin on their way back after gigging at Findhorn and Inverness.
Charles has been performing for the past 12 years, his poetry is said to be simple and mystical and inspiring. Magdalena was born in Glasgow to Polish parents and has been making music and singing since early childhood.
Lunch in the Museum cafe beforehand which will carry on serving food until 3.30pm and then, from 3.30pm – 4.30pm will sell a selection of cakes and drinks.
Kilmartin House Museum’s new event programme
Kilmartin House Museum kicks off in January 2009 with seasonally appropriate sessions on Felting with Jae Ferguson (17th January) and Massage with Gabby Rogers 25th January).
In February, as we start to feel more like the outdoors again, there is a Guided Walk and Sunday Lunch with Julia Hamilton (1st February); sessions on Sacred Dance and on Storytelling with Peter Vallance (8th February); a workshop on geology, Rocks Round Argyll, with Julian Hill (21st February); and a Shrove Tuesday special, Rock Art and Pancakes on 24th February.
March hits the ground running with a burst of energy, Rainbow Dyeing – a riot of colour with Janet Renouf-Miller (1st March), followed by a talk about women in prehistory with Dr Sharon Webb under the stirring title: Warrior Queen or Round House Wife? This is on 8th March, celebrating International Women’s Day. Things then calm down a little with a session on Organic Gardening with Patsy Dyer (22nd March) and one on The Geology of the Kilmartin Archaeological Sites with Roger Anderton (24th March).

The Geology of the Kilmartin Archaeological Sites at Kilmartin House Musem
Tuesday 24th March from 19.30 – 21.00, with Roger Anderton. This will look at the types of rock used for Kilmartin Glen’s standing stones and cairns and also talk about the geology of rock art localities. Admission free. Book by phone at 01546 510278 or by email at: katy@kilmartin.org
Organic Gardening at Kilmartin House Museum
Sunday 22nd March from 10.00 – 15.30, with Patsy Dyer. This workshop will cover theory and practice, covering topics like crop rotation, propagation and composting. Cost: £25. Rainbow Dyeing at Kilmartin Hose Museum
Saturday 1st March from 11.00 – 15.00, with Janet Renouf-Miller. This workshop teaches you how to create stunning colours on fibres, yarns and fabrics. The techniques are easy and can be done at home.

Storytelling at Kilmartin House Museum
Sunday 8th February from 18.00 – 19.30, with Peter Vallance from the Findhorn Foundation. February is the Gaelic month of wolves.
