1. INTRODUCTION
Development Trusts are touted as the great White Hope for community mobilisation and economic sustainability and invigoration in the UK, particularly Scotland.
Over the last 9 months I have been chairing a steering group tasked by the community it represents to incorporate a trust in the most appropriate legal vehicle for the purpose. We didn’t have the advantage of on-tap professionals in the area, nor did we feel inclined to raise funds to pay for one. Instead we undertook to research, design and implement the trust, and we did this to ensure both that we understood the process we were undertaking more thoroughly, and that we were entirely confident talking about, describing and implementing our creation. In short we didn’t feel we would own it if we didn’t create it.
This series of posts is designed to describe the process we undertook as a possible roadmap for others to use as guide and help-meet.
