Sheridan’s post-graduate research shows extent of military spend in Scottish universities

Former MSP, Tommy Sheridan, graduated from Strathclyde University on 7th November with a postgraduate Masters degree in social research. He has spent a year researching the volume of spending in Scottish Universities by arms companies and government defence agencies, revealing that it is over £28 million.

Mr Sheridan feels that higher education has been ‘polluted’ by this funding.

Strathclyde University has itself received £7.84 million over the past eight years. It puts this down to having Scotland’s largest engineering faculty.
