If as is stated in the article the person responsible for dumping the building rubbish has been identified as being the ‘responsibility of locally based Highlands and Islands MSP, Mike Mackenzie’, then does the Argyll & Bute Council have a different set of rules for SNP MSPs as opposed to members of the general public. If not, then why have they not pursued Mr Mackenzie to remove his rubbish from this community owned land? - Easdale Island dump on a deadline

AuntyDote – the local media have tried this approach already and the FOI requests were rebuffed by the Council.

AuntyDote – you could be right. I am personally more interested in who the Senior Managers were that took the hump rather the actual details involved.

This might not be a popular opinion but I have no problem with this information being withheld. Not to protect the Council but to protect the two ex council employees. It is unlikely that the specific circumstances of their suspension and subsequent resignation are of great public interest and the release of them may cause them embarassment and create difficulties in their future attempts to get employment.
If they feel they have been unjustly suspended there is nothing to stop them taking appropriate action and possibly going public with the reasons given for it.

Are you sure that they haven’t been prevented from disclosing the reasons for their departure by some termination agreement?

Maybe they’re just two beleaguered souls who had enough. It would fit the council’s profile.
I see the ad for a communications officer in the Courier. The council got over it quickly then.

In a larger advert for the post under ‘Job Purpose’ it states:
To promote (and defend) the council’s reputation and services with the residents of Argyll and Bute and helping increase customer satisfaction with council services.
I don’t think I have ever seen a job advertised with the term ‘and defend’ included in it before. And why put it in brackets.

For Scruff: It is likely that, with the Communications Manager, Jo Smith, suspended, her line manager, CEO Sally Loudon would have written the copy for this job spec.
In her embattled office, the primacy of ‘defence’ is understandable.

In these times of austerity I’m surprised that the posts are being filled; couldn’t they just get the local press to write sympathetic copy and get local radio to broadcast an endless loop of pre-approved drivel?

Having campaigned tirlessly on issue of Castle Toward, mainly on social networks, I would like to know more about these people and feel that we may indeed have suffered as a result of this.
There resignation is not enough and I would like an independent investigation to be conducted.
