Comment posted Scottish Government support for Arctic Convoy medal – but why not award a Scottish medal? by Iain McCallum.
Absolutely scandalous. And the longer it goes on the louder the condemnation should be. These few (and getting fewer) brave (mad??) men that have been recognised by Russia (the enemy?) and totally ignored by succesive governemtns of this once Great Britainand the efforts they gave within living memory should bring endless shame on this lot espaecuially who i believe promised to present them with medals.

Well done WCM. Campbeltown firm takes over the world, or at least the West of Scotland. Loving it.
- 2013 Remembrance at the Cenotaph: the Arctic Star on parade
the Arctic Star on parade……and not before bloody time. (I am being touchy, but I wonder why someone took the time to red thumb me when my criticism is as always directed at the various governments who refused to present these brave men with the small token of their sacrifice and bravery, the Arctic Star)
- McGrigor calls on consumers to choose mackerel source carefully
Did I not here this week that mackerel was off the danger list and there was more than there had been for decades after a few successful years of massive spawning. Strange how scared politicians are of “independent” countries who make their own decisions for the benefit of their own people.
- Patrick Winterton and Olly Hicks: half way to completing paddle of wartime ‘Shetland Bus’ route to Norway
This is another example of British eccentricity at its best. Mad but mad for a good cause. Well done chaps
- New Campbeltown-Ardrossan service off for today
Reference the bus. I hear that there were cyclists stuck after the ferry didn’t come and the bus wouldn’t let them take their bikes on. So they had to wait a second night to get them dismantled and packed up in boxes or whatever. I bet they won’t be coming back!! Hope they don’t tell their friends.
