What…your house in Glasgow ? or your wee house near Beinn Hough ?

I read somwhere that on average wind velocity drops at night…but do’t quote me…
En route home…catch you soon. Karl
- I am not sure Robert…but it would have to be a pretty huge battery…worth looking into simply to be amazed !
When I say battery…I am refering to pump storage.
- Will more Glens have to be flooded to provide a “battery” facility for wind…or is the possibility of an export cable to Norway part of this plan ?
If this does become the case…then the environmental footprint of wind is a true can of worms that needs further review…we will have folks all over Scotland and maybe Norway too… becoming NIMBY by proxy.
Rather than in my case NIMBY by necessity.
- Hi I am just going on the JNCC/and Dipper 1981 documents. I would presume the higher oxygenation is due to the swell breaking over so many skerries in the Skerryvore area, the large tidal races, the near continual pounding of an Atlantic swell on shallow water…
“Are you saying the waters of Tiree are SUPER SATURATED with oxygen” No…you have said that…I did not say that please read my post again !
Also note the other contributing factors for good conditions, seabed, cover…kelp etc. It takes, I presume many contributing factors to make a sustainable and varied ecosystem…one of these being above average (whatever average is) O2 levels.
- SPR’s EIA is ongoing…seems that SPR are trying to fill in any percieved gaps…lets remember JNCC etc are out there to find out what should or needs to be protected…SPR are out there to look at mitigation…or to look and see if mitigation is possible !
And yes if this project goes ahead…the damage will happen, at seabed/beneath the waves and on the surface…SPR are only now realising how much damage will occur.
Ultimately how much environmental damage are the Scottish Government willing to allow for 6.5 billion GBP ?…and does SPR really want want to end up having world wide headlines saying it is going ahead with damaging areas already noted to be in need of full protection…It will do nothing for offshore wind renewables, or the green credentials this multi national uses to support it’s projects. The Scottish government also have to realise that this development is a step to far.

IF. BY RUDYARD KIPLING
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
Whatever you vote tomorrow… vote with your head… do not be intimidated !
I voted NO… Scotland is my home and will remain so whatever the outcome…
- The independence campaign: personal gains and loss
Well it look’s like they will get a chance to chase it…two new polls, two leads for ‘No’…swing to No in the undecided….
Anyhow…just hope the disapointed on Friday can move on.
- Indy: separating sheep and goats on Brent Crude and house prices
They are…all the way to the bank….
Oil prices are going to stay stable as long as the middle east and US etc are working together…they are then going to drop as Iraqs oil, and Iranian oil comes on line…there accesible reserves are vast…their proven reserves larger…big players here, Saudi does not want Iraq in OPEC…come to your own conclusions as to why wars happen
this is an old article, poke about and you will find something better…
anyhow…if anything oil prices will drop over the next 25 years… cheap fuel drives profit, expansion, capitalism…

Just think where we would be if there had been no Darien project, you are full of total rubbish NHC… I have not read one constructive post from you in 2 weeks…nothing to add to either view point. Face it you have no idea of what is going on do you ( rhetorical)… not a clue..
“Once China and others move out of recession the price will go up as will demand due to world population increasing” thats got to be the most bonkers statement I have ever read, what the hell are you taking…
You are going to have to live in the “now” very shortly and its going to be a big, big shock…to you. But maybe not eh, maybe you don’t even live in Scotland ? and this is just an extension of your false persona… your living a lie…thats why you are so angry… you want to be a part of something, but actually you know you can’t… thats the truth is it not… dont bother answering… because you mean sweet FA to me or anybody else…..
I suggest we ignor this moronic individual… it will drive it mad… give it time to think ( yea right bit of an oxymoron I know)
- Karl Hughes: What part would an Independent Scotland be able to play in the global war against IS?
Aye…I have probably opened the gates of biblical waffle from NCH…and I will be cast onto the pages of the little black book…LOL… frankly, I’m done with this referendum, what will be will be… I’m not here to change anybodies stance… I just want folk to make an informed decision…my vote is cast, but I have to say…for whatever reason…these 11th hour promises (supposedly on the table already) were in my humble opinion wrong, simply because some folks who have voted…YES or NO were not in possession of all the facts.
Change will come…lets just ensure whatever the outcome we work together to get the best deal we can as parents & people…if its a YES, then we have to ensure Holyrood are held to account and never screw us around…if its a NO we have to do the same with Westminster…but more than anything we have to remember we are just people and that having an identity attached to us… be that Scot, Welsh, Irish, Iraqi, Japanese or whatever is basically bollocks… we all just want to belong…we already do folks !!! we are human. Cast ya votes wisely.
Footnote added a bit later: Yep, its been a journey for me too this referendum, perhaps I have pre-empted everybodies time of reflection having already posted my vote ?
I can’t be a nationalist, its just not me, I see it as a retrograde move and to dictatorial… (but peoples opinions are there own)…Unionism is a progressive idea in my own humble opinion…but there is something greater to aim for and I feel watching and being part of the goings on…thinking about my part in all of this, however small, as moved me on a bit… internationalism, no tags, no borders, no racism,or bias …less selfishness are centuries away (if we get there at all)… anyhow thats where my thoughts are…. thanks to all who will vote or not for making me think outside the cage that we allow politicians to put us in, I feel like its time to go home and wash that muddy “Welcome” mat.
