Skye Terriers Club run sponsored walk to highlight threatened breed
There are only around 3,000 Skye Terriers, a native Scots breed, left around the world. According to The Kennel Club, it is ‘one of the most endangered native dog breeds in the UK’. An example of their vulnerability is that only 30 were born in the UK in 2005, with the breed is estimated to be facing extinction in 40 years time.
Scotland has a tradition of developing small plucky terriers and the Skye Terrier is amongst the oldest of these. Continue reading
