Argyll Movies
I Don’t Have a Dog - filmed by Tony Gill, furniture designer and maker at Ardfern. Records a visit made by boat to Eilean Mhor, the biggest of the McCormick Islands, in late Spring 2008. Narrated by Tony. Edited with Mags Russell of Wild Biscuit.
California Dreamer - filmed by Tony Gill (as above), recording an interview with regular Ardfern visitor from San Francisco, Nancy Miller, talking about her love of Ardfern and why she’s been coming back for twenty years. Edited with Mags Russell of Wild Biscuit.
A Glimpse of Furnace - filmed by team members from the For Argyll project (on a training day) and edited into this cut by Dee Rudiger, Oban-based graphic designer and member of Women@Work.
The Rodgering of Nefertiti - filmed by Dee Rudiger (as above) with Kerrie Ross, writer, belly dancer, stand-up comedian and fellow member of Women@Work. Filmed with assistance from Dave Dunbar and John Patrick and edited by Dee and Kerrie.
Auchindrain Museum: Living the History in Argyll - filmed by Rebecca Martin from Santa Barbara and often of Furnace, with Alan Baird and edited into this cut by Rebecca.
Auchindrain Cows - a cute short movie filmed by Rebecca Martin watching the young cows at Auchindrain Museum chase after Duncan Crawford’s tractor. This has had a lot of hits on You Tube.
Furnace in 120” (Dusty Springfield) - filmed by team members from the For Argyll project (on a training day) with a challenge to cut a two minute movie from the results. This one is by Lynda Henderson from Furnace with a sound track using Dusty Springfield’s little known ‘Just a little lovin’.
Furnace in 120” (Yeats / Chieftains) - details as above but with different sound track to show inpact of music on how we fell about what we see. This one’s a poem of WB Yeats, ‘Never give all the heart’, set to music by The Chieftains.
AB @ SMO - filmed single-handed by Alan Baird from Furnace at Sabhal Mor Ostaig on Skye, with a very little help from his friends. Filming was a series of experiments in filming, some shot with a conscious end contribution to editing. Footage was cut to this ‘narrative’ by Lynda Henderson (as above), with sound track from Allan Taylor, ‘For What It’s Worth’.
Waiting in Geneva - a very short movie edited by Lynda Henderson (as above) from still photography taken in Geneva by Paul Hadfield. This was an experiment, using the slideshow in Apple Mac’s iphoto, adding a sound track (The Beatles ‘Don’t pass me by’) and creating it as a Quick Time movie.
Dor-Ri-Tos - filmed by Callum Train with Lynda Syed, an early test of video-making skills in making a last minute Furnace village entry to the Doritos ‘Ad video’ competition. (Title and idea were an edible gesture to Do-Re-Mi from the Sound of Music.)
