Next Thursday, 23rd April and two weeks to the day before the UK General Election on 7th May the ever-innovative Leiper Gallery on West George Street, is hosting an exhibition of pot shots and mockery at the whole shebang.
This exhibition is of cartoons produced during the campaign to date – and continuing.
The Leiper will continue to gather cartoons as they appear and to date they’ve secured what they describe as: ‘some lovely original works by Chris Cairns [wingsoverscotland]; Iain Green [The Guardian and Holyrood Magazine]; lots of digital prints from Terry Anderson [Scottish Cartoon Artists Studio]; Gary Barker [The Guardian]; and Steve Bright [The Sun].
The Leiper did the same thing during indyref 1, with a fabulous collection of international cartoons around different cultures engaged in issues of independence and separatism.
Both then and now, these exhibitions offer a great chance to see – and but – a fun piece of Scottish history at this exciting time in a continuing series of exciting times.
The show is open Tuesday to Friday from 11.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12.00 to 5.00pm and will run until 11th May – just enough time to capture some of the responses to the outcome and the subsequent Dutch auctions to come.
Great fun. Great idea. Only at The Leiper.
