Saturday night party in Furnace brings police, assault charge and court appearance today

The peaceful Loch Fyneside villlage of Furnace was the victim of outside violence on Saturday night when some new young residents of the village threw a party and invited friends up from Lochgilphead.

The party spilled on to the street in the centre of the little village and became violent. Strathclyde Police report that one man was punched heavily in the head and may have a fractured cheekbone.

Three police cars were sent in response to reports of the situation at 11.00pm, calmed things down and, after investigations, arrested a 25 year old man who has been charged with assault.

He is appearing today (9th July) at Dunoon Sheriff Court.
