Since its last public meeting in Oban in September, the local Concern for Palestine Group has been campaigning hard on various matters to promote peace and justice in that troubled part of the world.
In the last few days individual members of the Group have been lobbying The Scottish Members of the European Parliament about the labelling of goods from the West Bank because of inaccuracies which often appear on items being sold from there. It is vital that no doubt is created as to whether items are truly Palestinian goods from the West Bank or Israeli goods from illegally occupied parts of the West Bank. A Declaration to resolve this confusion is currently before the European Parliament.
The Oban Concern for Palestine group will be running a stall as part of the Argyll Animal Aid’s Christmas Fayre in Oban’s Corran Halls on Saturday 20 November when Palestinian goods will be available for purchase. (Last years’s Fair is picture below.)
The Group’s next meeting is on Thursday 9th December 2010.
