The annual – and magical – Round Table Lantern Parade in Lochgilphead takes place this Saturday, 6th November 2010.
The first event, from around 5.30pm, is the projection on to a gable wall in Chichester Square of images by pupils from Lochgilphead High School who have been taking part in a photographic initiative with Scottish Natural Heritage at Moine Mhor, led by Caroline Anderson.
This is followed by the start of the Lantern parade itself at around 6.30pm.
Then the Board of the Mid Argyll Swimming Pool had the brainwave of making a night of it for the Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig communities by running a ceilidh at the Ardrishaig Public Hall, with the proceeds going to the pool.
So, Mid Argyll will be en fete, whatever the weather, on Saturday night, running the streets of Lochgilphead after what is always a glorious lantern carnival with pipes, bands and all sorts of surprises.
This year there will be an ice rink for two days on the front Green, the dragon bonfire that has been taking shape on the Corran opposite the Green and, of course the fireworks, whose reflections on Loch Gilp alone are spectacular.
Then its off to Ardrighaig for the ceilidh with the Ceilidh Bandidos, Argyll’s own dynamic ceilidh band.
Tickets are only £5 and there will be a licensed bar. Doors open at 8.30pm and close 12.30am.
Tickets are now available from Mid Argyll Community Pool, The Square Peg, The Book Shop and on the door.
