This afternoon, 16th May 2016, Oban Lifeboat’s volunteer crew were called upon to assist a motor cruiser with fouled propellers and rudders near Craobh Haven.
At 12:26 Oban Lifeboat was tasked by Stornoway Coastguard to go to a motor vessel that had fouled both her propellers and rudders in an awkward location near the entrance to Craobh Haven Marina.
Two small vessels were initially standing by but due to the size of the casualty vessel they prudently decided not to attempt to tow her into the marina.
The lifeboat arrived on scene at 13:20 to find the casualty vessel temporarily parked on a buoy at a nearby fish farm.
Following consultation with the motor cruiser it was decided to secure the vessel alongside the lifeboat and, once firmly attached, take her the short distance to Craobh Marina where she was safely berthed on the pontoon at 13:50.
The lifeboat then departed the marina and sped back to Oban where she was refuelled and made ready for service again at 15:15.
