A joint operation by Oban and Tobermory RNLI lifeboats took place this afternoon, 3rd May 2016, after two divers surfaced from a rapid ascent from twenty metres down in the Sound of Mull.
Shortly after 13.00 Oban RNLI Lifeboat Mora Edith MacDonald was tasked by Stornoway Coastguard to attend to two divers then being taken on board Tobermory Lifeboat, Elizabeth Fairile Ramsey.
To ensure that adequate search and rescue cover was maintained at the Western end of the Sound of Mull, Oban Lifeboat rendezvoused with Tobermory Lifeboat just off Craignure.
By 14.00 both divers were safely transferred to Oban Lifeboat which then made best speed to Oban where a waiting ambulance was waiting to take the divers to Oban, Lorn and the Isles Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
The Lifeboat was then refuelled and made ready for service by 15,00.
