Resurfacing on A83 south of Strone Point starts 28th April

Motorists using the A83 north of Inveraray will find resurfacing works on the A83 south of Strone Point beginning on Thursday 28th April for six days.

The works will be  carried out between 7am and 7pm each day with no weekend working planned.  The programme will involve works to strengthen the carriageway edge and resurfacing a 650m section of the route.

The road will remain open throughout the works – however for the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists,  a 10mph convoy traffic management system will be in use. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours, although a 30mph reduced speed limit will be left in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit representative, says: ‘These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

‘We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.’

  • Perhaps, after this, they can move on to properly repairing the stretch near Killean to the south of the recently resurfaced section near Achnagoul, south of Battlefield Caravan park?
And – talking of Strone Point – the detailed survey after clearance of vegetation above the road was completed a year or so ago, so I wonder what progress there’s been on designing and programming the badly needed safety improvements at the point?
