Service restored

A continuing problem with our BT broadband network has kept us out of action for almost 24 hours – for which we apologise again.

It appears now to have been resolved – after patient interventions by BT Customer Service staff – and we are working as fast as we can to get material in the pipeline through to publication.

This is the second such incident [upload speed of 0.36mb – unable to post anything] in a relatively short time and we hope it is the last.

  • It hasn’t only been FA that had no service, large areas of Cowal were completely cut off several times.

    • I usually have a look on the BT Customer Forums when I have a problem and post a message if I cannot see anything.

A few years ago there was a major fault affecting the North of Scotland, many people had reported to the 0800 number but the information had not been passed on to their operations people. They only found out after a day when moderator of the forums told them about the reports they were seeing.

It turned out that a card had failed in Inverness but the monitoring failed so it did not change over to the good half of the card and did not flag up an alarm.

It is quite common for the operations people to believe their monitoring rather reports from users.
