Talk about a Yo-Yo Easter – Oban Lifeboat on sixth shout of the week

Oban RNLI lifeboat launched on Sunday 27th March to a diver with the ‘bends’ in Lochaline.Stornoway Coastguard requested the launch  at 17.20 to assist a diver suffering from decompression sickness – aka ‘the bends’ – at Lochaline in Morvern in the Sound of Mull

Once on scene, the diver was quickly transferred to the lifeboat, fortunately with to its crew member Dr Colin Wilson onboard who, with many years of experience working with divers in this situation, was there to assess the casualty throughout the journey back to Oban.

The lifeboat got into Oban by 18.41, where the casualty was transferred to the care of paramedics and a waiting ambulance.

Oban lifeboat then returned to station where she was refuelled and made ready for service again by 7pm.

This was the sixth call out this week for the volunteer crew  with a total of around 13 hours spent at sea.
