And not a senior SNP MP or MSP marching with them!!

NS stayed away to recover from the YouGOV poll showing she still can’t win IndyRef(2).

In case you are too lazy to check out the latest YouGov poll here is the link:-

    http://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/lbzcm2uume/ScotlandintheUnionResults_160725_ScottishIndependence_W.pdf

It is not rocket science to work out:- (a)there is near as damn it NO desire for Indyref(2), (b)marginally more Scots want a UK deal with the EU rather than a separate Scottish deal with the EU and (c) however you juggle the figures, Nicola Sturgeon cannot be confident of winning any Indyref(2)

From all her pronouncements since Brexit, Nicola S conforms to YouGov’s finding that the largest section of Scottish opinion is that Scotland should wait until the UK’s deal with the EU is clear,
and then decide whether to have a referendum.

As Alex S has said EU clarity on UK’s deal could take 4-7years to be negotiated, any Indyref(2) could be a long time coming ,if ever.

Once more you manifest your comprehension issues. Unless Scottish Govt has the required Act of UK Parliament to hold an Independence Referendum, then Scottish Govt would be attempting to declare UDI , which would be self defeating.

Nicola S is more cautious than her rhetoric, which has obviously whipped you and your fellow SNP zealots into an Independence Feeding Frenzy. Scottish opinion may have shifted a wee bit but not enough to make separation a certainty. She has indicated she needs to see a consistent 60% poll for Independence over a 12 month period before she will consider Indy ref(2). Independence is an even harder sell than it was at the referendum in 2014. Brexit has destroyed the SNP’s original shaky currency plan. The absence of a credible economic strategy is glaring when oil revenues are plummeting. Brent looks as if it may fall below $40. Funding Scotland’s deficit is UK dependent with by UK fiscal transfers worth more than 5 per cent of gross domestic product. To qualify for EU membership an Independent Scotland ,according to George Kerevan SNP MP, would have at least 5 yrs of self- inflicted draconian austerity (Note Kereven is the SNP’s member of the House of Commons Treasury Select Committee) .

The evidence of the witnesses at today’s special sitting of Holyrood’s European Committee suggests Brexit may be a net advantage to Scotland.

Not exactly what Nicola S wanted to hear.It would make any rational Scottish first minister pause!!.

But back to the Supreme Court’s Judgement,it now leaves Scottish Govt to try and make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear

  • AS

You obviously have comprehension issues so here is the link to the full judgement .

    https://www.supremecourt.uk/cases/uksc-2015-0216.html

It is an excoriating judgement on the quality of Scottish Govt’s legislation.

As for returning “to Sovereignty ‘ ..in the absence of a referendum and then winning such a referendum , it aint gonna happen.

Not a bleat. Scottish Govt Ferry provision has a problem

I suggest you re-read the SNP’s manifesto of promises for the 2014 Referendum, to correct your obvious ignorance of what the SNP pledged it would offer an Independent Scotland re Ferry service provision. The SNP only pledged to deliver its 2012 Ferry Plan . That makes no offer of 24 hr services
on summer routes. SNP government is currently failing to deliver its 2012 Ferry Plan.

Accepting your premis that a 24 hr ferry service would be a ‘given’ in an Independent Scotland, it would appear from this article by Alex Neil, (Former SNP cabinet Minister) this gonna be a long timing coming, if ever.

Oh ..and by the way ….Norway’s coastal ferries, unlike Scotland’s, are NOT run, and owned by the State

  • With Heb Isles in for repairs, CalMac charters replacement vessel to reduce underprovision for Islay
How come, on Monday, Calmac announce that the MV Isle of Arran will be re-deployed to the Islay service from Tuesday, yet very early Tuesday morning sail MV Hebridean Isles from Greenock with repairs completed. Meanwhile MV Arran does not move from the Clyde, and goes back on the Arran service!

    This suggests woeful ship-management.

It has taken going into the 3rd week of chaos on the Islay route for Calmac /Scottish Transport to get round to implementing a credible option to minimise disruption. And what is it? To run the MV Finlaggan round the clock, on a 24 hour service. Does it take an Einstein to come up this plan of action? NO. Instead Islay was offered a slow speed log- transporter which could only operate in benign sea conditions .

If a Calmac ferry can operate 24 hrs a day in these circumstances, why can’t the Calmac network operate its major routes on a round the clock basis particularly during Summer peak periods, similar to Norway?

And now the MV Lochinvar is out of service due to a technical issue with her propulsion system

Is this fleet breakdown a statistical co-incidence, or due to poor planned maintenance management ?

‘ First Minister has the support of Holyrood’ … yeah ..but so what? She and Holyrood have not committed to Indyref(2) for very obvious reasons(1) she may lose it and (2) she hasn’t a clue what credible EU options she can offer an Independent Scotland.

She now has to accept the currency reality for an Independent Scotland ie no sterling union, and setting up Scottish Central/Reserve Bank , without which, Brussels would send her away ,to think again.

Until she comes up with tangible currency and reserve Bank scenarios, Nicola S , and the SNP, are merely blowing hot air, and boring us with their humbug.
