The cargo ship, MV Fri Ocean whose last ‘contact’ with Argyll was her extraordinary grounding on Calve Island at the entrance to Tobermory Bay on the Isle of Mull in the small hours of Friday 14th June this year.
It was their epic prolonged shout – 31 hours – to this stricken ship that earned Tobermory Lifeboat’s volunteer crew their recent commendation from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Earlier this evening, Fri Ocean was heading up Loch Linnhe and into the berth at Glendanda Superquarry, having passed the Lismore Light by 21.00. She was at the Glensanda berth around her ETA of 21.30 and can be seen there on AIS here.
We are indebted to Martin Briscoe for this information – and for his keeping an eye on the progress at Corpach of the Fort William Underwater Centre’s boats recently bought from Western Ferries – Sanda and Scalpay.
