Seabird conservation in Argyll: BBC 2 Landward – tonight

The BBC 2 programme Landward at 6pm tonight – Sunday 29th September – has a short item in it about the innovative tern rafts set up by Clive Craik in Argyll (with some funding support from Argyll Bird Club).

Clive has been short-listed by RSPB for a conservation award for his outstanding work in tern conservation.

There is some interesting footage of peregrine in the item and this part of the programme as a whole is a great conservation story about Argyll.

The tern rafts are designed to protect terns which are ravaged by the predation of land-based wild mink when trying to breed on their natural rocky islet habitats.

The rafts allow them to breed on the waterborne rafts, safe from this predation.
