BOWfest brings the very best of the Scottish west coast in music, food, drink, physical challenge and fun to Inveraray Castle on 14th and 15th September 2013.
Following last year’s storming success has been a major driver in putting this year’s programme together but it looks like they’ve done it.
These are two musical feast days with unique programmes in the Music Marquee and Bar – led by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Skerryvore, Skipinnish, Dr Hip and the Blues Operation, Acoustic Butterfly, The Condition, The Camans, Pauline Alexander… full details below and it’s growing as we write.
Feasting direct this year involves all sorts of Food from Argyll – from the Real MacKay’s home-bred roasted lamb stovies, to Winston Churchill venison burgers to Loch Fyne Oysters seafood spectacular and Bumble’s Puddings.
The food and the music are all washed down with Loch Fyne Whiskies – hosting 40 west coast distilleries on the schedule for intimate exploration; with Loch Fyne Ales and The George Hotel, respectively Pub of the Year and Family-run Pub of the Year 2013 on hand to mouth duty.
All the activities – for children and adults – are free and include a climbing challenge from Argyll Adventure few have yet beaten; and archery with free instruction from Stramash.
There are all sorts of delights for children of all ages , including storytelling in the woods and the rambling presence of Bruce the Knapdale Beaver. – who may not be as shy as you’d expect.
Local marketing groups from all over Argyll and the Isles will be there, underlining the multiple magics in the ginormous Tardis of this place. There will be representative from golf courses, the like of which you’ve never seen – like Machrihanish Dunes; alongside those with the capacity to get you around Argyll by land and water, like West Coast Motors, CalMac, Kintyre Express… And there will be therapies and crafts.
In short, everything you can possibly need for two days of indulgence, exercise and good craic will be on site.
And, literally, behind all of this, host and fabulous backdrop for BOWfest, is Inveraray Castle with its tours and its famous cafe on hand for even more variety in the wealth of experiences this best of the west showcase shoehorns into two mad days.
