SNP Group Leader not even sure which day it is

The following email was sent yesterday, 19th August, by SNP Group Leader, Sandy Taylor, to his colleagues in the SNP Grpup.

The stresses within and from without the group are clearly beginning to tell.

Councillor Taylor refers first to today’s meeting – on Tuesday 20th August; and later refers to the next group meeting – on Monday 20th August.

Time for the wet towels.

The email makes it clear that next Monday’s Group meeting [whatever date that may be] will be taking votes on issues on the agenda, with one of the main items being the discussions on possible coalition with Argyll and Bute for Change.

With the agenda for the council meeting on 29th August also to be discussed, the inference is that we can expect changes to be put forward at the meeting – at which the SNP will finally effect their planned retiral from frontline leadership. The ‘way forward’ mentioned is the ‘way out’.

Today’s meeting is being held in Oban for the convenience of some of their external manipulators – SNP Councillors have to be monitored by their authority – the Constituency Chair and Vice Chair.

  1. NEWSIE how low do you have to go.
Considering not once have you apologised about the resignations that never happened over months dealing with different individuals etc etc it would appear that your vendetta knows no bounds. When some of your Pals are off to pastures new or have left the snp will you stop be the willing recipient of gossip by those with an axe to grind or is it organ grinder?
Ps even other parties have to be subject to rules – noticed the labour leader what’s his name from Glasgow getting his photograph taken at the commonwealth games yesterday. The fact he is still in power IS a story not a mistake in a date.

  2. Time for the wet towels? .. if only the vogons could come along sending FA hitch hiking towards pro-indy?

  3. Ian

Personally I prefer her in the NO camp because it confirms all that is bad about her style of “journalism” and the No eey brigade.

    • I take it that all the thumbs down are from SNP supporters who know that they are claiming expenses to attend party meetings. What a dreadful waste of council tax payers’ money.

      • No, you shouldn’t take it as that. One is from me because you’re making a petty party political point which has no foundation.

I’ve no idea whether they claim expenses for meetings of the type outlined above but it’s plain as a pikestaff that councillors meeting to discuss how they will, or will not, collaborate with other groups of councillors are, like it or not, acting on council business.

Much as I’m quick to condemn a waste of public funds, this seems to me to be quite reasonable.

  4. Well based on history NEWSIE supported the Robb coalition then the McCuish coalition supported by the Tories and lib dems and she happily told wee stories over the resignations that never was to undermine the “competition” as she sees it. Who would benefit. Whose the patsy?
No doubt nobody wishes to lose their wee responsibility payments. They have got too used to the money. As stated before SNP HQ should have thrown them out ages ago. Better to stick with the true snp supporters who will not close Struan based on trumped up figures.
In the interest of transparency NEWSIE will now tells us who sends the emails or provides a wee paper copy to her over a coffee. Look towards Helensburgh and Oban would by my guess. What is your guess?
Maybe be can run a competition. Look who she is trying to undermine today , yesterday!
Who is on their list for tomorrow?

  5. Amazing really to give support to someone who so readily breaks trust and forwards every email knowing you will find a way to make something negative from it. Especially since you’ll likely be judged for the company you keep.

    • Perhaps I can be fairly judged as blowing this beyond proportions but when FA opt to ridicule a political party based on an email content which they have been forwarded, it’s brilliant.

We’re living in an age where people are being detained at airports by a UK Govt using dodgy legislation, we’ve a whistleblower taking refuge in what we used to call a Tinpot Dictators embassy, and some bloke hiding in the despised Soviet Union to keep himself away from the clutches of the land of the free.

Oh, and we’d someone in Argyll setting up Spy Accounts to check on public complaints about council activities. I hear the council paid her enough for her never to need work again…

While the article is obviously tongue in cheek, everyone should defend FA’s ability to write it.
Who knows, the current anti-porn legislation could perhaps define The SNP as a body which should be banned from the internet as it’s attracting people.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 6 Thumb down 14

      • I am afraid the article is not tongue in cheek – more forked tongue. FA had carried too many articles like this and is quite clearly not neutral but is actively involved with others in attacking those of a different view.
Is this the role of a “editor”?

  6. Lowry of course they will be claiming expenses!
H2O should look closer to home for the leaks.
The bravehearts and the fanatics (a few post on here) in the SNP are leaking this to do maximum damage and drive the SNP Council Group into arms of the Change for Chaos Alliance. Then Russell will step in to save the day! Ordinary decent SNP members working for independence are squirming with embarrassment.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 8 Thumb down 12

    • I’ve checked my bladder is ok. Still think Oban or Helensburgh are my contenders unless you can persuade NEWSIE to tell all –She is a past master of gossip bit in this instance she is too directly involved.

  7. Newsie, or someone else with some knowledge of expense payments please work out what all these extra meetings are costing the tax payer to date. You could prob have saved Struan Lodge. How can we pay these expenses and sit back and watch the old suffer in homes? Be ashamed

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 6 Thumb down 10

  8. How can they claim mileage (from us as council tax payers) to attend SNP meetings? Surely they should only claim mileage to attend council meetings and to undertake council business.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 10 Thumb down 6

  9. Lowry who says they are.
For Argyll print the accounts and if some are they will be rightly condemned but this is a wee diversionary from cheesy to take the heat off those currently in power and are leaking to keep the stalwarts at bay and who saw through the lies over Struan .
Bit dreich in Oban today should I nip over and see how the Argyll International airport is doing. Probably meet 1/2 of the council officials who pose as passengers.
So who is leaking — ask those in charge and For Argyll as they cling to power.

  10. I used to think the Daily Record was about as bad as it gets when it comes to partisan reporting but … A TYPO IS NEWS …?!

Message to newsroom from a (near-)neutral political perspective: the Pavlovian over-the-top anti-SNP style which ForArgyll has adopted has the hallmarks of an unhealthy obsession; it is extremely tedious to the reader; it invites ridicule. (Key words – unhealthy; obsession.)

I agree with Grant Macdonald to this extent: by all means criticise politicians and parties when there’s an issue of substance, but this sort of stuff is just downright unseemly.

It reminds me of a spoof Sunday Post front page I saw with the banner headline story “Mrs McGinty’s Budgie Flies Away!” and, relegated to a small-print bottom corner, “Other news – millions of black people were killed yesterday when a freak tidal wave hit a foreign country,”

But that was a spoof – right?

This is supposed to be news. It’s not living up to it. It’s not even gossip.

  11. To whose advantage is it to attack Sandy Taylor? The political lightweights. The dodgy four!

I agree that the contents are not even gossip. Sandy Taylor has a difficult job steering the boat in troubled waters into open seas.

Newsie cut him some slack. Please

  12. Those seeking change are doing everything they can to make things look as bad as possible even if that means doing very stupid things. I suppose the theory is that the new Chaos Coalition will appear a better option than the present minority administration. Appearances are deceptive and the reality if they succeed will be worse.

  13. J – ask who wrote the story above? Who has been writing stories about the Provost and others over the past weeks and despite the summer recess? Who has been feeding NEWSIE the stories? The current encumbents or others? Who hopes to gain advantage?

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 15 Thumb down 2

          • All my pals. – not sure if I know them!

J are you trying to imply that the good snp folk and others couldn’t do better than the current bad snp lot led by McCuish (although I hear Robb still calls the tune) Of course there is no way Robb is snp but a Tory plant according to some ! If folk want Struan saved then McCuish needs to step down with his sidekicks.

  14. H20, Newsie is a convert. And like ALL converts she is a zealot out to ‘prove’ her previous beliefs/loyalties were misplaced or wrong.

This boring on-going anti-SNP ranting has NOTHING to do with the SNP it has to with her deep compulsive psychological need to ‘prove’ her decision was ‘right’. She is a compulsive. And this is a disorder.

Given that she was previously Labour, then SNP and now flirting with the Tories you can expect many more similar posts from the OCD one.

    BTW – I’m not SNP.

  15. Simon – never thought for one moment you were snp – but there is still time for a Damascus moment!

I also thought NEWSIE supported the SDLP when in Ni so she is now left with UKip and the monster raving looney party. Which one would you suggest?

  16. Never mind folks Roddy was spotted in the Salvation Army hall today so he must be covering his back and looking for help from up above.
So next week we will have the return of Dick and Duncan and they are certainly funnier than Ant and Dec and of course the SNP will trot along behind like a nice little puppy.
What happened to working with the enemy?
Roddy has been offered quite a few jobs to tag along with the gang he would be mad to get involved with anything in Kilmory but the provosts job with the nice chain would go well with his bike.
Great crack this week folks Cheers Neil.

You obviously have the inside info. Now I am not a Rangers player and don’t like gambling but gives us your prediction as to who has got what!

Surely Russell can’t be crowned King of Dalriada?
