Oban & Lorn Horticultural Society support two local charities

Oban lifeboat cheque

The proceeds of an auction at Oban & Lorn Horticultural society’s flower show last year have been donated to two worthwhile local charities, each focused on the lives of those in trouble in different ways and each receiving £200.

Sandra Grieve presented one cheque to Oban Lifeboat – gratefully accepted by Coxswain John
Hill.

Sharon Black presented the second cheque to Joyce Millar, from the Friends of Oban Hospice.

John and Joyce formally thanked the group, on behalf of the charities, for their most generous donations.

The bonds between local charitable services like these and their communities are strong. Living by the water, as most of Argyll does, has always made the work of the volunteer crews working for the RNLI fully understood and valued.

Many people have members of their personal circle afflicted by terminal diseases and know how valuable and heartwarming a service hospices contribute.

Funds for two such good causes blooming from a flower show auction by a local society is very appropriate.
