Oban Lifeboat on shout to divers in Sound of Mull

The Oban lifeboat, Mora Edith Macdonal, launched at 3.19 pm this afternoon, Saturday 6th July, to rendezvous with the dive boat,  Fyne Pioneer, in the Sound of Mull. Two of her divers surfaced and felt unwell.

The lifeboat met up with the Fyne Pioneer carrying the two divers and also  two members of Tobermory Lifeboat, out on a separate shout in the Sound and seconded to help the divers.

Oban lifeboat’s Medical Adviser, Dr Colin Wilson, also a member of the crew, was aboard the lifeboat and immediately assessed the casualties, one of whom was in need of re-hydration.

Contact was made with the Hyperbaric unit at Dunbeg to prepare for admittance of one casualty.  His colleague was taken to hospital in Oban for check-up.  An ambulance met the lifeboat on her arrival in Oban at 4.22 pm.

The lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service again at half past four.
