Homeland’s Damien Lewis filming on Mull

Damian Lewis, star of the compulsive American television series Homeland, is currently on Mull, working on a new film, The Silent Storm – with a World War II focus.

Mulleachs looking out for him may have no luck – his head is shaven for the part and he is unrecognisable. However, according to staff on the CalMac ferry which brought him to Mull on Monday evening, his car may be a bit of an identifier – it’s a Jaguar XKR convertible.

Filming is taking place on the Carsaig Estate in the south of Mull where the crew have built a church for the set and at Inniemore Lodge.

This film won’t do Mull’s tourism any harm.

Lewis plays a man of faith  returning to the island after the war, dealing with the changes to it and to himself since he left and seeing his wife begin an affair with a young man who is a bit of a delinquent. She is played by Andrea Riseborough, the actress who received great reviews for her portrayal of the Duchess of Windsor in the indifferent biopic on the Windsors directed by Madonna.

More good news is that Lewis is filming The Silent Storm in a break from work on the third series of Homeland. No one wants to let this gripping series go.

  1. Coincidentally, I think Inniemore Lodge is where a WWII radar station was located. The WWII engine house is down the road and now a private house.

  2. The wife is, I’m guessing, Andrea Riseborough, not Andrew.

That would have been some acting performance to pull off that trick ;)

What a coup for the Ross of Mull!
