Cardwell Garden Centre Charity BBQ on 22nd June

The annual Cardwell Garden Centre BBQ day in Inverclyde is on Saturday 22nd June and this year’s event is set to be their biggest yet.

The world famous Weber BBQ company will be there again this year with their amazing Airstream trailer. The Weber team will be demonstrating how to get the best from your BBQ from about 10am until 3pm.

The Cardwell BBQ will be operating all day long with renowned chef Billy Walker cooking everything from burgers to joints of meat. Billy has been hosting the centre’s BBQ days for well over 20 years and his performance on the grill is second to none.

This year the craft centre is also joining in by hosting a craft fair from 10.30am. There will around 30 tables of local crafters showcasing their talents and products and there will be demonstrations running all day from some of the craft centre’s favourite suppliers.

To keep the kids busy, the best entertainers will be on hand, including a clown, a magician, face painters and a caricaturist – and traditional Scottish band, Westsound, will be there with the best accordion music in the area for everyone to enjoy.

Part of Cardwell’s remit is to help those who are not so fortunate. Last year’s BBQ saw them able to donate £2,000 to charities thanks to the generosity of their customers and their own donation. This was on top of what the charities collected themselves on the day.

This year Alzheimers Scotland, Friends of Ardgowan Hospice, Rotary Club of Gourock and CLIC Sargent will all be on site raising funds on the day.

The entire event is FREE to attend and will be entirely indoors, so there’s no need to worry about the weather.

Full details of the event are at the Cardwell Garden Centre website here, with the event easily accessible by ferry from Dunoon.
