Alex McKinven: Argyll Select wins Joe Paterson Memorial Football Trophy

In a thrilling ‘golden goals’ finish on Saturday 1st June 2013, Argyll Select beat the Scottish Amateur Football League Select on penalty kicks to claim the Joe Paterson Memorial Trophy at Tarbert.

Two goals from Tarbert’s James Prentice gave the ‘Gaels’ an early advantage, but the SAFL clawed back to level the game in normal time.

The Argyll players kept their cool to win the resultant penalty shoot-out.

As Oban Saints were involved in the Jimmy Marshall Trophy Final on Sunday 2nd June 2013, the home Select was drawn from Tarbert, Lochgilphead Red Star and Campbeltown Pupils.
