Oban lifeboat to aid of stricken fishing boat

The pagers went off at 08.24 last Friday, 19th April, for the crew of Oban Lifeboat.

The fishing boat, FV Kyrene, had developed a faulty rudder, south of the Isle of Kerrera and had requested assistance.

Within 20 minutes -┬áby 08.44 – the crew were on board, Mora Edith Macdonald, the Oban lifeboat, was on her way, had located the fishing boat in the area and had established a tow.

Kyrene was towed to the railway pier in Oban where it was secured safely alongside by 09.40.

Then, for the volunteer crew, it was off to the other jobs.
