Council clarify issue of source of grass-cutting schedule

We have had a quick response from Argyll and Bute Council to our Freedom of Information request to know who created the grasscutting sheddule which has recently been a source of controversy amongst council employees in Oban and Dunoon.

The response is:

‘The consultant firm who have assisted through the Streetscene Review implementation were not involved in the building or the preparation of the grass cutting schedules or any other programme of works.

‘The preparation works were carried out by Alan Coyle (Management Services Officer), Tom Murphy (Streetscene Area Manager) and other Streetscene Managers / Technical staff, with the help of local employees – Chargehands / Foremen etc.

‘The works carried out by the consultant firm in respect to the schedules was in relation to the work recording systems which will lead to the future electronic works recording system.’

It is free unless the request for information is considered to be excessively onerous. I believe A&B apply a threshold of £600 (i.e. if it is going to cost them more than that in terms of man hours spent) before they ask for a fee.

  2. Wow! So when they said there would be a charge for producing any information held on me, excluding council tax info. they were implying there was more than £600 worth?

  3. Why are we paying consultants for work recording systems. … I mean its ridiculous. Could the esteemed A and B management mentioned above not been capable. Is it beyond their capabilities??

  4. That’s strange. When I worked for them the Council already had a very effective “work recording system”. We filled in jobsheets. No problem, miniscule cost.
