Islay High School in win-win solution to school cleaning

Difficulties in recruiting cleaners for Islay High School have been resolved very close to home.

A rota of eight willing pupils has been established with each working around three hours per week – no obstruction to their studies but an opportunity to earn and to do some honest physical work.

We bet it’s a bit of an attitude changer when fellow pupils deposit the ubiquitous chewing gum in places  a class-mate has worked to clean.

This initiative could have all sorts of constructive impacts.

  1. Great idea. Most of us did menial jobs before we left school to earn some cash. Made us appreciate money and also to respect people who had no choice but to do these jobs.
