53 year old Malcolm Webster is currently serving 30 years imprisonment for murdering his first wife, Claire Morris in 1994 in Aberdeenshire.
After this formally unchallenged murder, he moved to New Zealand where he married again and tried to do exactly the same to his second wife. She survived the attempt and its investigation found that his first wife in Scotland had died in the way he had tried to kill his second – drugged and left in a car he had deliberately crashed and fired.
Webster moved back to the UK, with his last job at Oban’s Lorn and the Isles Hospital, where the predator had got as far as lining up another potential victim before the whistle blew for full time.
The mills of bureaucracy grind exceeding slow but at last the formal business of removing his name from the official list of those entitles to practice in the nursing profession has been completed.
At the moment there is an outstanding appeal from Webster against his conviction.
