Strathclyde Police report the finding of the body of the missing 25 year old angler, Michael Pringle, who had been camping and fishing with his father in the area at the head of Loch Awe.
There appears to be nothing suspicious about his death although a routine post mortem will be conducted.
Mr Pringle was last seen leaving the Tight Line pub in Loch Awe village in the small hours of Sunday morning [3rd February]. He and his father started walking along the road back to their campsite but became separated and the younger man was not seen again.
Yesterday, Saturday 9th February, at around lunchtime, police divers found his body in the River Orchy – which is crossed by both the rail and road bridges at the head of the loch east of the narrow peninsula track out to Kilchurn Castle – on the way back to where the men were camping.

What a terrible shame.
Have some respect and get his name right please.

This has been corrected. It was entirely my own mistake – and thank you for pointing it out.

“bonnie place but so dangerous”
Tragic – and my sympathies are with the family – but the loch is NOT the danger.
When are we going to stop pussy footing around and admit that alcohol just might play a part in these tragic incidents?
