The organisers of the 2014 golf Ryder Cup to be held at Gleneagles in Perthshire are lookoing for 1800 volunteers to help make the event run smoothloy and happily for competitors and audiences.
JObs to be done by the volunteer squad that is being set up include driving buggy shuttles, carrying scoreboards and working as sales assistants in the merchandise marquee.
Those selected as volunteers will pay a £75 registration fee as assurance of their commitment. They will all be given uniforms and will be fed during the event.
There is no mention of accommodation so anyone from outside the area of Gleneagles wishing to volunteer would need to have certain accommodation sorted out for themselves, well in advance, for the duration of the event.
‘A positive attitude’ is said to be the main thing the organisers are looking for – while some knowledge of golf would clearly be of help.
Volunteers should visit the Ryder Cup website to record their interest in working as a volunteer at this high profile event.
