Ardchattan Parish Archive hosts gathering to discuss Heritage Lottery funded project

Everyone interested in hearing about or getting involved in the recording of local heritage material is warmly invited to come to The Victory Hall in Benderloch in North Argyll on Saturday 12th January from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

Ardchattan Parish Archive is hosting a gathering on Dualchas agus Duthchas : A Sense of Place, a community archive project funded by the Heritage Lottery.

The Ardchattan Parish Archive is one of the first groups in the UK to receive a Heritage Lottery Fund grant in its ‘ Our Stories’ scheme.

The Ardchattan project aims to inspire the community, across the generations, to capture residents’ memories, to understand the local surroundings better and to begin to build the foundations of a lasting, publicly accessible archive.

The plan is to have community walks, talks and workshops to learn about the local heritage from Big Bang to the present day, find out what skills are needed to run a local public archive – and to create a catalogue of the material that has already been gathered.

So everyone interested or curious about this is invted to ‘come along for the Craic’, to learn more and to say what they would personally like to know about.

This is an informal ‘drop in’ afternoon and the project team we look forward to sharing ideas and plans.
