‘Tis the season to be thrilling – and Lochgilphead’s Laura Gray has recruited Cowal’s Walking Theatre Company in an event which is part of her BA Tourism and Hospitality Degree and is designed to support the local tourism industry.
The Walking Theatre Company are hosting a spy murder mystery night at Kilmartin Museum cafe – on 13th February 2013. This is diary date to bring fun to the new year, just as it starts to feel real after the annual despond of January.
Laura wanted to bring something to this area which was different, in the hope that the local tourism providers and supporters would be inspired and encouraged to hire other theatre companies to host their own unique events.
This is an entirely achievable ambition since such events work best with an intimate number in a manageable and explorable space.
Laura says: ‘For some time now I have felt that here in Mid Argyll we do feel slightly isolated and remote and not many varying events hosted by travelling company’s are brought here.
‘It was my purpose also to choose a date which was off-season and midweek.’
She hopes that the event will also stimulate networking to generate morale boosting initiatives for the coming tourism season.
Booking forms for the event have been distributed to many establishments promoting the ‘early bird’ ticket price of only £25.00 per head – with the theatre-led entertainment, a hot buffet, dessert and a free local bus (provided by sponsor Magnus Gray Plumber) all included in the price.
Getting in the mood already, Laura proclaims: ‘A great social night out to look forward to. Get dressed up…. glam frocks and sharp suits… but be prepared…. as all will not be as it seems’.
Her facebook page for the event is here and if you scroll down you will find her group page.
It’s encouraging to see Argyll’s talented young people focusing locally on challenges designed to develop tbeir own skills and portfolio and add to the energy and the menu of experiences available.
The evening’s interactive thriller-feast is now in our Events Calendar for 13th February.

Phone Kilmartin House Museum on 01546 510278 – and enjoy the fun. Walking Theatre has a good connection with LIsmore through some innovative youth theatre projects there.
