Corran ferry out of action

[Update: Back in operation.] An obstruction in the water has put the Corran Ferry between Ardgour in Ardnamurchan and south Lochaber out of action.

While the situation lasts, traffic is to divert via A830 at Fort William.

  1. A tourist forgot to put their hand brake on last night when they got out of their car to read the notice.

It floated for a time then sank. The ferry could not run until it has been located. Then they had to get divers and a crane out today. A picture was sent to me of it being pulled out of the water.

    The emergency services attended.

I wonder if the poilice will charge the driver with “quitting”? I believe it is illegal to leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running or the hand brake not applied.
