This morning at around 7am a gritter lorry slid off the road on the A886 and effectively closed the road to all traffic.
By 9am this morning a half-mile stationery tail-back had formed of drivers waiting patiently for recovery to happen and for the black ice to be cleared.
By 9.30 another gritting lorry had battled up the Leanachd to rescue its fellow also trailed by a huge number of vehicles wanting to get through.
Estimates of when the road will be cleared vary between 30 minutes and 3 hours.
The Gritter had taken four hours to get to that stage. The driver commented, ‘Who needs coffee when you have black ice all along your route?”
Drivers are advised to keep clear of the area and find alternate routes.

UPDATE Midday: The road is now open
