The newly opened Loch Lomond Arms Hotel, in the postcard perfect village of Luss, is out to celebrate its first Christmas with a seasonal offering at the centre of everyone’s festivities.
Cocooned in the spectacular scenery of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and serving up the best locally sourced food within the hotel’s traditionally styled bar and restaurant, complete with roaring fire, this is a seductive suggestion of how to enjoy the party season and to welcome in the New Year free of care.
- a hearty festive two course menus starts from only £12;
- lively Party Nights include a three course menu and an evening’s entertainment from £23
Luss has the advantage of being close enough to Glasgow not actually to be remote while being a world of its own, out of time, tranquil and delightful, offering escape from the pre-Christmas mania and the hard slog – for some – on the day.
On Christmas Day, there is a ‘welcome’ reception for guests, a delicious four course menu at £55, prepared by head chef Peter Wilson; and a certain red suited gentleman is certain to materialise to delight younger visitors.
On Hogmanay, drinks and canapés will be served on arrival, setting the party atmosphere for the evening and followed by a sumptuous four course menu at £45.
At only £15 per ticket, the Hotel’s first New Year will get underway within the beautiful Inchconnachan function suite as the clock strikes midnight, with a piper bringing in the bells and traditional stovies served.
Everyone wanting to stay longer has the opportunity to book one of the hotel’s 14 individually styled en-suite bedrooms, waking up in the morning to indulge in a full Scottish breakfast.
Room rates, including breakfast, start from £80 single occupancy and £120 based on two sharing – and it’s always worth checking the hotel website for seasonal offers.
Sometimes the morning after needs a variety of recovery options – there is 720 square miles of an unspoilt national park waiting to be explored and a wealth of pursuits from fishing and golfing to wildlife watching.
Glasgow is just 30 minutes drive from the village of Luss and Glasgow International Airport even closer. There are several whisky distilleries and a local brewery within easy reach of the hotel. And for those wanting to make an early start on the Boxing Day sales, the nearby Lomond Shores centre provides one of Scotland’s most scenic shopping and leisure destinations.
