Have a look at the latest set of photographs from Clachan in Kintyre.
Following yesterday’s article: Clachan community spirit beats flash flood – on the damage done to the Kintyre village in a massive flash flood last Wednesday, we have had more photographs from Lorien Silvan showing the extent of the damage it caused.
Who would have believed a flash flood could wreck the road (top) as this one has done – with a fast rescue response from the staff of Argyll and Bute Council’s roads department.
The village shop was lucky not to have gone floatabout on this.
And its easy to imagine what Pat and John must have felt as they saw the damage to their garden and started thinking about getting it straight.
Wth the torrent running berserk through the village, of course there have been homes whose carpets and furniture have been ruined.
The village had to cancelled the Smallholders Gathering planned for Saturday 1st September – to be held in the Village Hall in its enviable grounds, while they got on with the extensive clean up.
In the communal challenge, the kids rolled up tier sleeves as well and got busy picking up the debris carried and dumped all over the place.
The Smallholders will be back though, in the Spring Gathering – which is now likely to be the best ever as village and smallholders alike put the effort for two into one.
