Wrecked and Wasted battle of the bands

Jackie Baillie MSP is encouraging residents to support West Dunbartonshire’s Wrecked and Wasted campaign.

Eight local bands from Dumbarton, Alexandria and Clydebank have been shortlisted to battle it out for a place in the grand finale of the Wrecked and Wasted battle of the bands.

Draw Me A Promise, Playdead, Picnic Basket, Nosedive, Breath again, Curves, Spoken Silence, FTW and Metropolis will perform live in front of a panel of judges and a live audience on Friday 24 August,

This is the second time Y-Sort It have hosted the event – with local bands from across the area uploading their latest tracks to get selected for the music battle.

Jackie Baillie says: ‘I am delighted that this competition has been organised for a second year.

‘It is great for local bands in West Dunbartonshire to get the chance to showcase their talent to their peers and other residents.

‘I would urge members of the community to get behind the Wrecked and Wasted campaign, which educates young people about the dangers of binge drinking, and supports our local talent.

‘Good luck to everyone involved.’

  1. If West Dunbartonshire Council wants to do something worthwhile to support young musical talent while generating a bit of economic activity in the town why not set up a stage in the town centre every weekend so bands can perform live? . This could spawn a whole load of other enterprises and bring back life to our High Street.
