The Canoe Slalom C2 Class this afternoon saw two Team GB crews contesting which would take Gold and which Silver and there was a Scots paddler in each canoes.
Etienna Stott and Tim Baillie had set the fastest time with a handful of canoes still to come down the fabulous course at Lea Valley.
The first few didn’t displace them – and the last canoe was driven by their compatriots, David Florence and Richard Hounslow, tipped to win.
With the narrowest possible margin, the Stott / Baillie time held and all four men ended up in the water in a seriously elated celebration.
This sport and these skills are among the most thrilling – and with canoeing and sea kayaking growing sports in Scotland, the triumphs of Tim Baillie and David Florence in their respective pairs can only accelerate this trend.
The win means that Baillie’s home town will be getting a gold painted pillar box – an inspired fun idea from Royal Mail which, with its superfast printing of special stamps for each British gold medallist, is having a very good games.

Still Better Together then eh? Wonderful!!
