It was quiz time for me this week, as Mum and Dad and I headed over to the Lochnell Arms Hotel to participate in the monthly quiz which is held there.
We also made sure to have some tasty eats while we were there – how perfect it was to enjoy carbonara while attempting not to come last in the quiz.
Craig, the quiz-master, was on top form as usual, with plenty of funny jokes and great banter.
Both the meal and the quiz were great – definitely topped by the fact that we fluked our way into third place, (after 3 other teams drew for 2nd, making us in reality 5th place out of eh, 6 teams) and winning a bottle of rose pinot grigio. I plan to enjoy this later on with my mum, watching the sun set in the garden. Bliss.
The quiz runs on the first Wednesday of every month, so the more teams that turn up, all the better. I know where I’ll be.
To the pictures…
This week also brought the opening of the Phoenix Cinema in Oban, on Friday the 3rd August, showing Brave. Brave will be at the cinema until the 16th of August, so phone to book a ticket or pop in, and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
The cinema is very cosy, with new comfy seats and drinks holders and even double ‘love’ seats at the back of the cinema.
Adult tickets: £6.50
Concessions: £5.50
Children: £4.50
Brave is showing every day, with up to 4 showings a day (see Oban Phoenix facebook page) so head off to see it as quick as you can and be part of the new Oban Phonenix Cinema magic.
To quote the chairman of the board of directors, (my Dad) ‘We were delighted to have three sell outs in the first two days and the news that Crerar Hotels are going to underwrite the refurbishment of Cinema 2, made it a superb opening night.’
