Rosneath Peninsula Highland Gathering – awarded £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme – has shown initiative in the way it has used the money.
The group, which runs the village’s annual Highland Games used the cash – which arrived just in time for this year’s event on 15th July – to help to fund advertising and publicity, buy and hire equipment, transportation and expenses for the volunteers and administration for the gathering.
They also used it to provide different sporting, music and dance activities for the local community.
Local MSP, Jackie Baillie, has welcomed the announcement saying: ‘I am delighted that Rosneath Highland Gathering organisers were selected to receive this cash award, alloweing them to enhance their annual event and really promote it to the local community.
‘Congratulations to everyone who was involved in organising yet another successful gathering for the Peninsula.
‘It is great for groups such as this to get the assistance they need to help them better their events.’
Awards for All Scotland is supported by the Creative Scotland, SportScotland and the Big Lottery Fund.
They award grants from £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities - and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
