The Convener of Ardrishgaig Community Council, Edward Laughton, has written to the CEO of Argyll and Bute Council questioning the effective competence of the council’s timetable for community council by-elections.
Nine community councils are currently to see by-elections.
Mr Laughton’s key point is that the tightness of the scheduled time makes it hard to recruit informed nominees.
Consequently he is asking for the by-elections to be postponed for one month to allow for already scheduled meetings of community councils to address the issue with local residents and attract nominees.
He notes that the web address given on the hard copy of a downloaded nomination pack on community councils was given as www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/communitycouncils
Following this took him to last years by-election.
This is the sort of pervasive carelessness with public information shared by Argyll and Bute Council with government at all levels.
