Working began again early this morning on the clear up process of the remaining landslide debris on the eastbound lane at Rest and be Thankful on the A83.
A fleet of lorries (top) were queuing at the top of the Rest awaiting their call to site.
As you can see in the photo on the left, large boulders continue to be uncovered and by 14:00 today (12th August) approximately 350 tonnes had been removed from site since the start of operations this morning.
Adding this to the 150 tonnes removed during initial works yesterday – 500 tonnes – gives a sense of what the Scotland Transerv team has been dealing with.
Its operations team are continuing the removal process before the final delicate excavation down to culvert inlet level to allow high pressure jetting and inspection of the structure.
Convoy working has again continued to move traffic through the section of road throughout the day, with no significant delays occurring.
The clearance works are currently expected to continue until at least around 17:00 this evening and a full update on progress will follow tomorrow morning.

Went through the Rest yesterday (Sunday) had to wait around 10 mins for the convoy system. Not unexpected and not unduly delayed.
What was unexpected was the 30/35 minute delay from the Duck Bay turn-off to the roundabout above Balloch. What an unexpected shambles -and not an uncommon one I’m led to understand. But this was around 1:30pm on a Sunday!!!
I would complain but what’s the point – Russell/Neil/SNP would of course just set up another long-grass-talking-shop.
