  1. What did I tell you five years of totally exceptionally normal weather about to causing chaos on the A83 and bathtub ferries in Dunoon.

The bathtubs were disrupted for about 24H on Monday.
The CEO of David MacBrayne Ltd has resigned. It is time some civil servants in Transport Scotland followed that lead.

  2. Ferryman: The “bathtubs” as you call them only actually missed four single runs, two return crossings, on Monday. If you’re going down that avenue, you might as well mention that the second Arran ferry was also disrupted that day, and did NO sailings at all! Disrupted, and “may be liable to disruption” or “on amber alert” are not the same.

    • RW: – thanks for the intro.

Initially we were told the A83 was being closed by “extreme rain” and Argyll Ferries were off because of “extreme wind”. In fact it is perfectly normal weather that is affecting both.

I am not sure what Arran has to do with it. Western Ferries and Argyll Ferries routes cross so any comparison should be between them. Western was fine on Monday – larger boats.

Vehicle crossings of the Firth of Clyde provide a viable alternative to the A83 for many, but the route is now a private monopoly with no control on profits.
      That is the relevance.
